Developed under BEAMS Creative Director Tatsuya Nakamura, this model draws from a distinct menswear lineage: lightweight canvas shoes that entered American resort and summer tailoring in the 1930s and 40s, were embraced by Ivy League student culture in the 1950s, and were later adopted by Tokyo select shop staff in the 1980s, not for trend, but for proportion and versatility.

This sneaker reinterprets that tradition for today. Its refined toe shape sits closer to a dress shoe than a typical sneaker, while the structured heel cup and tapered sole let it move seamlessly between casual and tailored styling.

The upper is crafted from Fujikinbai canvas, one of Japan’s most respected high-grade cotton canvases. All stitching is done at SPINGLE’s own factory, and the rubber sole is formulated, produced and vulcanization-bonded in-house. Not just a nostalgic reproduction, but a continuation of a tradition refined through Japanese craftsmanship.
