Brand Highlight: Alden
Alden: The Pair You End Up Coming Back To There's always that one pair of shoes that people come back to. Not the newest, not the most eye-catching but the one that somehow end up by the door more often than anything else. For a fair amount of people, that pair ends up being Alden. We have seen customers coming in and describing how wide the shoes are, how heavy they feel and how they aren't the cheapest options for shoes. But after living with a pair for some time, something usually clicks. It Usually starts with the Leather Most people first hear about Alden through shell cordovan and honestly, it's hard to ignore once you've seen it up close. Rather than creasing the way most leather do, cordovan forms these soft rolls that catch the light differently over time. The surface starts to change over time, picking up depth and colour in a way that’s hard to fake. Getting there takes a bit of patience though. Cordovan can feel stiff at first, sometimes even slightly unforgiving. But with enough time, cordovan begins to soften in a way that feels specific to how you wear it. We've had customers come back months, sometimes years later just to show how their pair has aged. No two pairs look the same and that's really the point. Not Perfect, but That's the Appeal With shapes that are slightly fuller and a bit more forgiving, Alden doesn't try to be overly refined. For example, the Barrie last feels more generous compared to what most people are used to. It's a shape that doesn't immediately impress on the shelf but once worn and broken into, it feels right. Some noteworthy modes that come to mind are the black (9901) and colour 8 (9901) cordovan blucher. The Aberdeen last sits on the other end of the spectrum. It's cleaner, more streamlined and a bit sharper through the foot — seen in styles like the colour 8 (684) full strap loafer. It’s definitely dressier, but still easy to wear day-to-day. Then there's the Van last which feels lower, rounder and more relaxed overall. A good example for them would be the brown (67342) Chromexcel penny loafer, our collaboration model with Alden. It has an easy sort of casual feel to it that works naturally with denim or even relaxed tailored trousers. Of course these aren't the only last Alden produces but they've become some of the most recognisable and widely appreciated over the years. Alden's aren't shoes that feel perfect immediately and you have to adjust to how you wear them but once they settle in, they tend to stay in rotation for a very long time. Why People Stick with Alden In a market where new brands and collaborations show up almost every week, Alden has somehow stayed relevant without changing much. People don't usually buy a pair and suddenly become obsessed overnight, it grows on them over time. The shoes get more comfortable, leather starts to change and eventually they become the pair you reach for without hesitation. There's something reassuring about the fact that Alden hasn't changed very much. The shoes people wore years ago are still recognisably the same today. In a way, that consistency is what keeps people attached to them. That's probably why Alden has always made sense to us at Colony. We've never really been interested in things that feel exciting for one season and forgotten the next. The best pieces usually end up being the ones you wear without overthinking and Alden tends to fall into that category quite naturally. ~SHOP OUR FULL ALDEN COLLECTION~

Singapore doesn't give you the luxury of seasons. It demands clarity. This feature explores what that looks like in practice: tailoring that breathes, silhouettes that move and a way of dressing that sits between formal and relaxed without forcing either. What you'll see isn't a departure from classic menswear but an adjustment. One that makes sense for where we are. Business dressing here isn't about rigidity. It's about control. The structure remains but the weight disappears. Jackets are softer, fabrics lighter and the shirt isn't always a shirt. A T-shirt under tailoring isn't a shortcut, it's a decision. This is what modern business looks like when you actually have to live in it. Kensuke Sato (General Manager, COLONY CLOTHING) is wearing the following JACKET: RING JACKET X COLONY CLOTHING / HOPSACK SPORT JACKET (NAVY) / RE055S28X TOPS: COLONY CLOTHING / ALBINI POLO SHIRT (WHITE) / CCSE-PL02 PANTS: COLONY CLOTHING / RELAX EASY TROUSERS (LIGHT GREY) / CC2501-PT02-01 BELT: ADRIANO MENEGHETTI / ELLAR CALF BRAID (BLACK) SHOES: GEORGE CLEVERLY / THE COLONY BUCKSKIN LOAFERS (BLACK) Rudy Herman (Customer) is wearing the following JACKET: COLONY CLOTHING / SHIRT JACKET SINGLE (NAVY STRIPPED) / CC2601-JK01S-02 PANTS: COLONY CLOTHING / RELAX EASY TROUSERS (NAVY STRIPPED) / CC2601-PT02-04 SHOES: PARABOOT / CHAMBORD (NOIR) Relaxed doesn't mean careless. The same principles apply here, just with less formality. Proportions open up, fabrics get lighter and the overall look leans into ease. It's not about dressing down instead, it's about dressing appropriately. Incotex: The Quiet Authority in Modern Trousers There are brands that chase trends and then there are brands that quietly refine what they already sell. Welcome back to another brand highlight of the month and this time, we are focusing on a brand that we are proud to carry in our shop, Incotex. Founded in Venice and now part of the Slowear group, Incotex has built its reputation around a single focus: making trousers properly. Not louder, not flashier, just better season after season. At first glance, Incotex trousers might seem understated. But spend a little time with them, wear them for a few days and the intention becomes clear. These are pieces designed for real life, not fleeting moments. Why Incotex Trousers Feel Different What sets Incotex apart starts with fit. Patterns have been refined over decades and not reworked every season, resulting in trousers that sit comfortably from the first wear. Rise feels natural, leg line balanced and the overall silhouette works with movement rather than against it. There's an ease to how Incotex trousers wear. Structured enough to hold their shape yet feeling relaxed to be comfortable through a full day. They transition effortlessly from the office to the weekend, travel to casual dinners without feeling like you're forcing them into a role they weren't designed for. Fabric as the Foundation Fabric plays a special role in everything Incotex does. Many of their trousers are garment-dyed giving the fabric depth, softness and a lived in quality that improves over time. Cotton, Wool, Linen and stretch blends are chosen not just for comfort, but for their durability as well. This results in the materials aging gracefully rather than quickly wearing out. Details are subtle but considered: waistbands sit comfortably, seams that hold their shape, finishes that support everyday wear. Each and every choice serves a purpose, nothing here is decorative for the sake of it. Why Incotex Makes Sense at Colony At Colony Clothing, we've always leaned towards pieces that form the backbone of a wardrobe. Pieces that work hard, pair easily and get better the more you wear them. Incotex fits naturally into that approach. Their trousers work just as well with relaxed tailoring as they do with knitwear, shirts or casual layers. For those who value longevity, comfort, thoughtful design, picking Incotex is a no brainer. We at Colony have just received a fresh batch of Incotex slacks in white, beige, navy & olive. These range of colours can be easily fitted into your daily rotation from everyday dressing to more refined occasions. Whether you are revisiting the brand or discovering it for the first time, the new arrivals reflect exactly what Incotex does best: thoughtfully constructed trousers designed to be worn often and worn well. NACKYMADE: Eyewear Shaped by Hand, Character, and Intention In a world of mass produced eyewear and logo driven design, NACKYMADE stands quietly apart. Founded by Naoki and Tomoko Nakagawa, the brand approaches eyewear not as a trend lead product but as something deeply personal. Every frame begins with their hands, their eyes and their belief that good design should feel lived in, not overworked. Working out of a small studio in Kobe, Japan, the founders design each frame side by side, refining shapes slowly and deliberately. Their process is rooted in dialogue between maker and material, between function and expression. Vintage eyewear often serves as a reference point, but the result is never nostalgic. Instead, familiar shapes are subtly shifted: a slightly heavier bridge, a softened curve, an unexpected proportion that only reveals itself when worn. Design Through Dialogue and Restraint What makes Nackymade compelling isn’t loud design, but restraint. The frames are bold enough to have presence, yet considered enough to blend seamlessly into a thoughtfully built wardrobe. This balance feels especially aligned with the Colony way of dressing: layered textures, relaxed tailoring, garments chosen for how they age rather than how they photograph. Craftsmanship That Reveals Itself Over Time Craftsmanship sits at the core of every pair. Each frame is hand-finished, allowing it to retain depth, warmth, and a subtle variation. Thickness is used with intention, adding character without excess weight. The fit is designed from the outset to be comfortable and balanced. Something felt immediately once worn, rather than adjusted over time. Why Nackymade Fits the Colony Way of Dressing Nackymade frames are not designed to be replaced each season. They are meant to be lived in, worn daily, and shaped by time. Like well made clothing, they become better with wear. Picking up small marks, softening at the edges, and slowly becoming part of the wearer’s identity. ~Shop Nackymade collection~ For those who value craftsmanship, subtle expression, and pieces chosen with intention, Nackymade feels less like an accessory and more like a natural extension of ones personal style. That same appreciation for craftsmanship is something we continue to celebrate at Colony and with Nackymade returning once again for their trunk show, readers can learn more about the event through the link provided for full details. ~STAY TUNED FOR NEWS ON FUTURE NACKYMADE TRUNKSHOWS~

From rugged alpine trails to dense concrete jungles, Paraboot has earned its place in both worlds. Known for its unbeatable mix of style, durability, and craftsmanship, it’s no wonder the brand has been gaining more attention lately. In this article, we’ll dive into what makes Paraboot a standout choice and why it might just be the perfect addition to your shoe collection. Legacy spanning a century Rémy Richard-Ponvert came up with the idea for Paraboot in 1908 at a small village in the foot of the alps, Izeaux. While assembling shoes for a factory, he realised that city contractors for shoes made more than his employer. With this knowledge, he decided to try his luck and went to Paris with his own designs in the guise of a “factory agent”. To his surprise, people were interested in his designs and orders for Paraboot soon came in. The name Paraboot can be broken down into 2 parts. “Para” referring to a port in Amazonia where the latex for the rubber is exported from and “boot” are the shoes that Rémy discovered while on a business trip in the United States. Paraboot remains a proud family-owned brand, seamlessly blending tradition with contemporary innovation. For the full history on Paraboot: https://shorturl.at/nCyb4 More than a boot, iconic signature style Over the years, Paraboot has made updates and changes to their designs but there are a number of things that are still consistent in their construction that makes them the shoe brand that people flock towards. Their iconic models are usually constructed with a Norwegian welt which makes them waterproof and resoling them a breeze. The thick rubber soles are inspired by mountain boots which not only makes them sturdy but stylish as well. Every pair of Paraboot takes weeks to produce as they are hand stitched and use only the the highest quality of full grain leather sourced from the finest tanneries. Some of their signature models include the Chambord, Avignon, Avoriaz and of course not forgetting, the Michael. Each model of Paraboot has a distinct character to them which allows customers to find a specific model to suit their needs. Worth the Price? Here's the Verdict Paraboot shoes are the kind of investment that only gets better with age. Built to last for decades, not just years, they offer a level of craftsmanship that’s hard to beat. Their sturdy construction means resole and repair work is straightforward, so you’re not just buying shoes, you’re buying a long-term companion for your wardrobe. The designs strike the perfect balance between timeless and contemporary, making them as suited to a casual weekend look with jeans as they are to a sharp suit for a more polished, refined style. Two weeks ago, we hosted a COLONY CLOTHING pop-up at Seoul's select shop, ‘PARLOUR’! This time, the biggest hits were our Ultrasuede® jackets and shirts. We brought items not usually available at PARLOUR, such as the Ultrasuede® poolside shirt, already sold out in Singapore, and an exclusive jacket featured only online through Japan’s fashion magazine ‘LEON’. My Korean skills are limited, but thankfully, my former colleague and friend, Sumitani-san, is always there to support me with translations. (He's the one second from the left!) If you're visiting Korea from Japan, be sure to stop by 'PARLOUR' to meet him! Not only is he a pro at offering fashion advice, but he’s also a passionate foodie who writes a food column in Japan's ‘OCEANS’ magazine." This marks our fourth pop-up event in Seoul, and we’re always happy to welcome back repeat customers and industry friends. Personally, I find the experience more enjoyable with every visit. I’ll be returning to Seoul every six months, and I’m already looking forward to the next one! After work, I joined the team I’ve grown close to through these pop-ups, along with our president, Mr. Fan, and our buyer, Mr. Chang, for a wonderful dinner. For our traditional after-party, we transformed Mr. Fan’s office into the 'Mr. Fan Bar' and had a fantastic time together. Seoul’s food and drinks are always incredible, especially in the company of friends. I usually get so caught up that I forget to take pictures, but this time I managed to capture a few moments (lol). We were also delighted to share a meal with President Watanabe and Mr. Yoshimura from Watanabe Sangyo, who happened to be in Seoul at the same time. I’m looking forward to seeing them again in Japan. COLONY CLOTHING will continue hosting pop-ups across Asia. Connecting with collaborators and customers from different places feels like it’s helping our brand grow and evolve with each event. ALL SUMMER LONG♪
